Tony Lin, MD, of Longview Orthopedic Associates has been named a peer reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Dr. Lin will review and edit original research manuscripts in the field of sports medicine.

The AJSM sent Dr. Lin the following message in early February: "Congratulations on being named a principal peer reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Based upon your performance of five or more reviews for AJSM during the calendar year 2017, your name will appear on the AJSM masthead for the next 12-month cycle beginning in March 2018."

Each article must be reviewed and approved by two or more peer reviewers before it can be accepted for publication. This involves critically examining the research submitted for originality, significance, and relevance to the orthopedic sports medicine field.

Dr. Lin has been reviewing articles for nearly a decade, but the selection never gets old. "I’m honored and delighted to be involved with this prestigious organization," Lin said. "The American Journal of Sports Medicine is one of the most-read orthopedic sports medicine journals in the world. I’m frequently enlightened by the submitted articles that I review; the knowledge that I pick up furthers my understanding of orthopedics and makes me better equipped to care for my patients."

After graduating with a Doctorate in Medicine with honors from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Lin completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles. In addition to sub-specialty board certification in sports medicine, his special interests include recurrent patella dislocations, massive rotator cuff tears, knee restoration procedures, multi-ligament knee reconstructions, partial and total knee replacements, shoulder replacement arthroplasties, and extremity fractures.

Dr. Lin worked for Kaiser Permanente before joining LOA in 2016.
